Since 1998 Crips.com
has been committed
to Gang Intervention. Crips.com, owned by Dirk Lemmons and
developed by Dirkster Productions, strives to turn young kids away from
gang life. The
foundation of Dirk's work starts from the premise that "the youth of
America
born into urban street life, by no choice of their own, need to be made
aware there are options, other than the life of crime, gang life offers
them". Dirk's time spent on the mean streets of St. Louis in the most
crime infested areas of the city, convinced
him
that these young urban kids had great potential
if given the same opportunities as their suburban counterparts.
Dirk was amazed as he became a part of the fabric of the community how
creative and ambitious the young gang members were. Their sense of
industry and toughness exceeded that of their pampered suburban peers.
The creative power of free will, and the importance making
fundamental life choices
have been the vanguard of Dirk's message to the Urban gang members and
gangster "wana-be's". The tremendous negative outcome of gang life
coupled
with the fact that other options were out there for these Urban kids
form the basis Crips.com.
The Tookie Williams debate has brought Crips.com into the limelight
regarding Gang life in general, and more importantly the big questions
of
capital punishment and what it means for society as a whole when a
convicted
criminal changes his or her fundamental life purpose. Dirk Lemmons has
written a short essay regarding this subject in an effort to stimulate
productive debate on the subject. Debate for the sake of debate has
very little value except entertainment. Debate for the purpose of
coming to important life changing conclusions regarding a subject and
then using
those conclusions to improve ones life and society as a collective
whole is a far better use of the Debate effort. Please take the
time to read what Dirk Lemmons has to say about the Tookie Williams
Death Sentence and then send in your thoughts on the subject. Dirkster
Productions will publish your response as long as it follows the long
standing rules of the site.
